Can I adjust the default audio level  -  up to 3/4 full  - in my

code ?

maybe in

var publishProps = {width: PUBLISHER_WIDTH

                                height: PUBLISHER_HEIGHT

                                microphoneEnabled: !pushToTalk};

Hi Alan

This isn't something that is available so I've passed on your idea

and logged it as a feature.

This is something that we would find useful as well.
In our testing the initial volume is too low and it makes it appear that
there is some problem.
We are adding additional instructions to the page that says "HEY! TURN UP
THE VOLUME MANUALLY!" ;)
But this is just one extra usability problem we would like to eliminate...
Are others seeing this? Id be interested to know what work arounds exist.
Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave

I think you've raised a good point about a problem that isn't easy to

solve.  We currently don't have access to the microphone volume on the

end-user computer or information about it's current volume.  The

OpenTok functionality you are referring to is actually the gain

setting for the microphone.  The default setting for the microphone

gain is 50 which means that it doesn't change the volume.  I can log

an enhancement request to expose functionality to have finer control

over this value but this will vary depending on end-user

configurations.

The 'turn up the volume' suggestion is similar to what many audio/

video applications encounter and part of the problem is that flash

doesn't provide direct access to microphone information.  The solution

is to add a 'green room' which allows customers to test their audio/

video as other users would see and hear them.  This may also need to

inform some  users that they need to adjust the OS microphone volume

outside of the application.

Have you found that this routinely occurs with many configurations or

can this be tied to a subset of users?
