Software Engineer, Flash / ActionScript

TokBox is looking for a few great software engineers who are ActionScript rock stars to help make our video applications more intuitive, fun, and easy to use. Responsibilities include working with the designers to improve the look of the site, adding new functionality to our video chat applications building amazing UIs in ActionScript 3 and Flex. If you're a software engineer who's experienced in ActionScript (2 or 3) and you love working on beautiful and elegant user interfaces, we want to talk with you.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate many of the following professional competencies:

• B.S., M.S., or Ph. D. in Computer Science or equivalent
• 3+ years experience working on shipping or in-development commercial products

Software Engineer, LAMP / PHP

TokBox is looking for experienced software engineers to help build out the TokBox site. We build services to connect out to users through instant messaging, email, and our Flash player. Engineers interested in this role should be experienced at building scalable, high-performance, secure object-oriented web applications in PHP (or similar languages like Python, Ruby, or Perl).

This is a full-time position based in San Francisco, CA. We are not currently interested in hiring contractors for this position.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate many of the following professional competencies:

• BS, MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science
• 3+ years experience working on shipping products or significant open-source projects
• Working knowledge of developing scalable web systems
• Experience with server-side web frameworks, especially LAMP
• Experience developing consumer Internet products
• Interest in data mining/analysis
• Admirable communication skills
• Ability to operate in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial start-up environment
• Ability to work hard and have a lot of fun at the same time

Senior Operations / IT Administrator, or Senior Operations Engineer

TokBox is looking for a senior systems administrator / engineer to help build out our back-end infrastructure to support our browser-based live video calling application. If you live and breathe apache config files, know about load balancing databases, web servers, and other tools, and you know about how to set up secure systems, we're interested in talking with you.

This is a full-time position based in San Francisco, CA. We are not currently interested in hiring contractors for this position.

Minimum requirements:

• Have at least 4 years of experience maintaining linux servers in a production environment
• Consider yourself an expert at configuring Apache, MySQL, Postfix, PHP, and DNS
• Comfortable with, or able to quickly learn, Nagios, Pound, Munin
• Very security-conscious, and able to configure very secure machines
• Can write and maintain some shell scripts
• Able to also support some tools used in-house (calendaring, email, etc., all also *nix-based)
• Also able to work with engineering on other tasks
• Must be a self-starter, but can also work well with others

Bonus points if you:

• Have a computer science degree or equivalent
• Have familiarity with streaming media servers such as Flash Media Server (FMS)
• Have familiarity with instant messaging servers
• Be able to write scripts and tools in Perl/Python/Ruby/PHP
• Have experience at working with hosting providers outside the US (as well as within)

Software QA Engineer (white box and Black box)

TokBox is looking for black box and white box QA engineers to help make our product even better. Our QA engineers should have experience working cross-platform and cross-browser to find problems before our users find them. You have to thrive in a very fast-moving company, where we're all working to constantly improve the product.

This is a full-time position based in San Francisco, CA. We are not currently interested in hiring contractors for this position.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate many of the following professional competencies:

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent strongly preferred
• At least one year of web application QA experience
• Experience with PHP/JavaScript/MySQL/Flash/ActionScript
• Experience with Flash Media Server and Flash remoting a significant plus
• Experience with manual UI testing, writing testing scripts and working with automated testing tools
• White box QA engineers must be experienced with automated web tools, and be able to help with root-cause analysis for problems found on the site
• Admirable communication skills
• Ability to operate in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial start-up environment
• Ideal candidate is also comfortable reading HTML, CSS, PHP, and Flash
