Ian

Ian Small, CEO

Ian Small is Chief Executive Officer at TokBox.  Before joining TokBox, Ian spent six years with Mark Logic Corporation, most recently as General Manager for MarkMail, and previously as Senior Vice President for Products and Engineering, during which time he helped guide the company from initial venture funding through to its leadership position for scalable, high-performance XML databases. During Web 1.0, Ian was the Chief Strategist and Knowledge Officer at marchFirst and USWeb/CKS, a position that followed his earlier role as Chief Technology Officer at CKS Group. Over a five-year period, Ian held a broad executive mandate which included corporate strategy, market positioning, knowledge management and merger integration. Ian started his Silicon Valley career by spending seven years at Apple Computer, where he was a member of the Human Interface Group and led several advanced product and research teams.  In his final role at Apple, Ian was responsible for the engineering management and product release of QuickTime VR.

A holder of nine US patents, Ian has a B.A.Sc. in Engineering Science and an M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Toronto, enjoys occasionally hitting a two-iron dead straight, and hasn't yet given up trying to train his over-friendly German Shepherd.

Ron

Ron Hose, Founder and CTO

Ron Hose is Founder and Chief Technical Officer at TokBox. Prior to TokBox, Ron spent two years consulting with various startups in the New York City area, and founded another software company. Ron founded TokBox around the principle that video communications should be as easy as possible, and available wherever people want to communicate.

Ron holds BS and MS degrees in Computer Science from Cornell University.
Micky

Micky O'Brien, VP of Marketing

Micky is Vice President of Marketing at TokBox and her one woman aim is to make TokBox a household name.  A Consumer Marketer through and through, Micky was most recently the Consumer Marketing Director for Vuze (formerly known as Azureus) responsible for all Brand and Consumer Marketing activities.  Before that, Micky worked for eBay in both the UK and the US in a number of consumer marketing roles, most recently as Head of Global Brand Development, leading brand strategy, brand and marketing education, branded content, brand licensing and merchandising for the eBay brand.  Her passion for brands and consumers was ignited by her early experience working for world-famous brands such as Kellogg's Frosties and Coco Pops and L'Oreal.

Micky has a BA in French and Spanish from Cambridge University, UK, which makes her both the resident Brit on the team and the most linguistically talented.

Yang

Yang Cao, VP of Engineering

Yang is currently Vice President Engineering at TokBox.

Prior to TokBox, Yang was Senior Vice President of Engineering at StarCite, Inc., an On-Demand global meeting marketplace. During his 4-year tenure there, Yang managed all aspects of engineering from technology to people development, and he also led the effort to build the StarCite's Shanghai, China R&D center from scratch to enable business growth.

Prior to StarCite, Yang was the Director, Technology and Architecture of Centrata Inc., a Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers company, providing IT business process management solutions.

Prior to Centrata, Yang held technical leadership positions at various start-ups, such as e-steam and Woosh!

During his early career, Yang was Chief Engineer for Enroute, an innovator in immersive imaging technology. He lead the effort of QuickStitch360, which won the "Innovative Digital Product Award" from the Digital Imaging Association (the only other winner is Adobe Photoshop 5.0).

Yang received his MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, and BS in Physics from Beijing University, Beijing, China.

He’s also a good soccer player and loyal fan of Manchester United FC - simply the best of the best.

Tim

Tim Wenzel, VP of Human Resources

Tim Wenzel is VP Human Resources at TokBox, and has been with TokBox since November 2007. Prior to joining TokBox, Tim was VP of HR for Tesla Motors. Before that, Tim spent 7 years at PayPal, where he helped grow the company from 50 people to more than 5,000. Tim was the first recruiter at PayPal; he built a very strong Staffing team and also served as the HR business partner for all of the non-technical groups.

Tim holds an MBA and a BS in Finance from San Jose State University.

Deidre

Deidre Caldbeck, VP of Business Development

Deidre Caldbeck is Vice President of Business Development at TokBox.  Prior to joining TokBox, Deidre spent three years at Endeca, a $100M+ enterprise search software company.  Deidre led Endeca's marketing and business development efforts in the media and publishing industry.  Prior to Endeca, Deidre managed AOL's business development activities related to search advertising and search technologies across the AOL, Inc. brands, including the company's relationships with Google, BizRate/Shopzilla, Kayak.com, and SmartBargains.  Deidre also spent three years in the Technology Lending Group at Wells Fargo Bank, where she handled a portfolio of accounts that included Veritas, Interwoven, Synopsys, and McAfee.

Deidre holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a BS in Business Administration from the University of San Diego.

Ron Hose, Founder and CTO

Roelof Botha (Sequoia Capital)

Roelof Botha is a venture capitalist at Sequoia Capital focusing on services and software investments. Prior to joining Sequoia Capital in 2003, Roelof served as the Chief Financial Officer of PayPal (EBAY). Earlier, he worked as a management consultant for McKinsey & Company. Roelof is a certified actuary (Fellow of the Faculty of Actuaries), and has a BS in Actuarial Science, Economics, and Statistics from the University of Cape Town and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Scott Friend

Scott Friend joined Bain Capital in 2006. Prior to Bain Capital, Mr. Friend was Chairman of the Executive Advisory Board and VP of Marketing & Science for Oracle Retail. Prior to its acquisition by Oracle in 2005, Mr. Friend was the President and co-founder of ProfitLogic, a Bain Capital portfolio company. In 2005, Mr. Friend was named a winner of the Ernst & Young "Entrepreneur of the Year Award" in New England. Prior to ProfitLogic, Mr. Friend held positions at Learning Sciences Corporation, The Parthenon Group and IBM. Tony Bates

Tony Bates is the Senior Vice President /General Manager of Cisco’s Service Provider Group (SPG). He is a member of Chairman and CEO John Chambers’ senior staff and therefore contributes to Cisco’s overall strategy and direction. Additionally, he is the co-chair of a number of councils and initiatives, chief among them the Service Provider Business Council and the Cisco Development Council.

Jawed Karim (Youniversity Ventures)

Jawed Karim co-founded YouTube in 2005 to enable individuals worldwide to broadcast themselves. YouTube is the 3rd most-popular website in the world and one of the fastest-growing websites in the history of the Internet. Prior to YouTube, Jawed was one of the earliest engineers at PayPal, now the world's largest online payment service, where he implemented its first real-time anti-fraud systems. Jawed has a BS in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a PhD student in computer science at Stanford University. Jawed is also a limited partner at Sequoia Capital.

Lauren
Lauren is a California girl raised in the North and educated in the South. She graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in International Relations, and joined the TokBox team soon after. As Chief of TokBox, Lauren keeps everybody on track and everything in order. When she isn't making video calls, Lauren dreams of opening her own bakery shop and taking the world by storm one cookie at a time.

Dr. Kundan Singh brings several unique expertise such as VoIP, peer-to-peer and Flex to our team. He loves watching movies, playing volleyball, painting landscapes and writing software. An artist at heart, he is convinced that writing software is also an art. In his spare time he stares at the computer monitor, and thinks about ways to program at the speed of light!

Adam is a nomad: born in Melbourne and raised in Singapore, Seoul, and Tokyo. He has a Software Engineering background and has recently discovered his love for ActionScript 3. In his spare time he and his wife like to introduce their 1 year old son to authentic cuisine from around the world. We're hoping he'll stick around for a while before he exhausts the large supply of restaurants in the SF Bay Area.

Having accomplished what he tasked to do on the right coast, Melih set off to the left coast in search of excitement, adventure, and revolution. His travels finally landed him at the ever innovative, ever dynamic, ever captivating TokBox! At TokBox, Melih hopes to create a platform on which communication is redefined. Melih finished his Masters of Computer Science and Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and Economics from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. When not TokBoxing, Melih is searching for the world's best beef brisket barbeque and sweet tea.

Damon is TokBox's Community Evangelist, with experience at startups called PayPal, SimplyHired & Mint.com. Damon has lived on the Right Coast, the Left Coast, Florida, and has also had the good fortune of living on Phuket Island in Thailand. Damon's favorite place to visit is Thailand, with Hawaii being a very close second, and enjoys taking photographs as a way of relaxing. Other than that, he is still trying to figure out if he has any hidden talents.

Max, hailing mostly from San Francisco, went to Santa Barbara for education and work experience.  With an arsenal of technological knowledge in various subjects from low-level networking protocols to system design and architecture, he is currently responsible for the operational well-being of the TokBox infrastructure.  Now residing in East Bay Area, he spends most of his away-from-work time kayaking, cooking, juggling, unicycling, reading, and vainly trying to convince his two cats, Ziggy and Hal, to not do whatever it is that they're about to do.

Badri officially holds the distinction of being the first person in the universe to have been hired via "Video Mail".  He moved to TokBox from the Pacific Northwest and loves being a part of the next big communication revolution. Prior to that Badri held engineering positions at Microsoft Corporation and BEA Systems. He holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Stanford University.
